Ganite-ServicesGRANITE STONE

Highly praised for their stain- and scratch-resistant surfaces, granite countertops are also tough, durable, and nearly maintenance-free. Homes with kitchen granite countertops, in fact, have been known to sell for a higher price—how’s that for a return on investment?

Speaking of investment, granite kitchen countertops tend to come with a hefty price tag. While costs will vary by location, project and contractor, in general, thicker slabs, more intricate the edge fabrication, and a need for uniform patterning will all result in increased costs.

Granite countertops colors can be as simple or as high-fashion as you’d like. There are so many patterns, colors and mineral inclusions available that finding a shade of granite to complement the unique look of your home should not be a problem.

Marble-Services

MARBLE COUNTERTOPS

Marble is a luxurious surface that lends warmth and sophistication. Its price tag, comparative softness and susceptibility to stains mean it’s not always used throughout the kitchen. Instead, many homeowners choose to install it on an island or separate baking center to both lower the cost and reduce wear and tear. Rich with crystals and color variations, marble comes in a variety of shades, including white, cream, black, green and pink.

What is it? Marble is a metamorphic rock (was once one form of rock but has changed to another) containing crystallized limestone.

Corian-Services

Corian Countertops

Corian is made by DuPont from a nonporous acrylic polymer. The surface is available in a number of colors, ranging from white to fire engine red to a speckled cobalt blue. The color and pattern are consistent throughout the countertop, so it will not change its appearance with wear and tear that naturally occurs over time. The overall look of a Corian countertop is smooth and similar to that of a stone surface. Damage can be easily repaired with scrubbing or light sanding. To keep Corian in top shape, do not chop or cut directly on the countertop surface. Setting a hot pot or pan directly on the countertop might also cause damage.

Corian countertops are one example of a solid surface. The countertop is made with a nonporous acrylic polymer and made in a variety of colors and patterns, ranging from creamy white to speckled gray. The color and pattern are consistent throughout the countertop, so it will not change its appearance with wear and tear that naturally occurs over time. The overall look of a Corian countertop is smooth and similar to that of a stone surface. Damage can be easily repaired with scrubbing or light sanding.

Edge ProfilesEDGE PROFILES

Choosing your granite color is the biggest decision you’ll have to make before you can have the stone fabricated and installed in your home. You’ll also have to discuss layout options, design elements such as a radius on your island, and decide on a backsplash size. One of the final decisions will be your “edge profile.” The edge profile is the shape  your edge takes. In this post,  I will give examples of standard and custom edges. I’ve divided the edges into several groups: Free or Basic Edges, Upgraded Edges, Laminated Edges, and Custom/ Novelty Edges.
